National outlet names surprising pick for Carolina Panthers' most underrated player

In a difficult 2023 season, finding a bright spot for the Carolina Panthers is difficult.

Still, Pro Football Focus found that one player on the Panthers was criminally underrated after the disappointing 2-15 season.

PFF's pick even came from the Panthers' most problematic aspect of the team: The offensive line. The outlet named Taylor Moton, the eight-year NFL veteran, who lined up at offensive tackle for Carolina during the 2023 season.

Here is what Pro Football Focus analyst Zoltán Buday had to say about Moton's 2023 season:

"Admittedly, there were not many bright spots on the 2023 Carolina Panthers. However, overlooking the entire roster makes Moton, who once again performed at a high level, quite underrated. In fact, from Week 10 on, Moton was the fifth-highest-graded offensive tackle in the NFL. He also earned the highest pass-blocking grade among all right tackles during that span."

Though individual stats are great, as a unit the offensive line didn't play well for quarterback Bryce Young. He was sacked at a ridiculous rate. And the struggles the line slogged through last season are the chief reason Carolina added two big guards the first chance the franchise could in free agency.

If Moton continues to play up to the level he has been consistent while throwing in guards Damien Lewis and Robert Hunt up front, Young won't be hit nearly as much as he was during his rookie season.
